This exhibition brings together 18 milliners, chosen for their diverse designs and unique skills, to give an insight into the particular workings and craftsmanship of each. It is supported by the Worshipful Company of Feltmakers and hosted by The ArtWorkers Guild.

Renowned theatre and film milliner Jane Smith talks in depth with milliner Noel Stewart about her experiences making hats for the film industry. Jane Smith started making hats for theatre and film in 1968, with her more recent work featuring in feature films Atonement, The Duchess, Harry Potter and Victoria & Abdul.

In this demonstration Bridget will be showing her mastery of rolling and shaping sinamay to create beautiful curves, perfect points and delicate edges. Bridget Bailey has a wealth of experience and an international reputation for both her millinery and her masterclasses. She has earned a reputation for combining intriguing ideas and observations with her very particular textile and millinery skills making one-off pieces for exhibitions and commissions.

Felt Blocking | Edwina Ibbotson

In this demo, Edwina will show how to make the most out of your fur felts, sharing her top tips and traditional techniques learnt and developed over the years as a couture milliner. Having Studied herself both here in London and in the states at The London College for Fashion (Marie O’Regan) Fashion Institute of Millinery (Anne Albrizio), as well as in private classes with incredibly knowledgeable milliners. Edwina has absorbed wonderful old school techniques which truly work and enable you to get the best out of felts, from pre preparing felts in advance to getting glossy shiny finishes.

'A Q & A with Rachel Trevor-Morgan and Hilary Alexander

Rachel Trevor-Morgan is best known for her beautifully crafted millinery techniques, including hand blocking and flower making, In this question and answer session with renowned journalist Hilary Alexander, Rachel will be discussing the use of these traditional techniques in her work. Rachel has been making hats for the past 27 years, and has held the Royal Warrant to HM The Queen since 2014.
